Big Island/Hawaii ….Life in the Waikoloa Resort, whether it’s vacation life, part time life or home, is an experience that will satisfy all your senses- you will be so glad you are here! I get up in the early morning just as the sun appears behind Mauna Kea, rising to greet the day.

The Waikoloa Resort offers walking paths and shaded sidewalks, so an early morning stroll to the anchaline ponds is an easy feat.  Leaving the ponds I continue on those shaded sidewalks and head toward the King’s Shop for my morning cup of coffee and a few other treats for my backpack as I continue my walk to beautiful Ana’eho’omalu Bay.

Just one of the historic places on the Kohala Coast, Ana’eho’omalu Bay is one of those amazing places that offers mullet ponds fed by underground springs on one side of the sand, and blue Pacific Ocean on the other! Heading on to the sand I gear up for a breathtaking hike along the coastline, where I can go for several miles on the sand and over the rocks, cooling off in the ocean or in a brackish water pond, watching the turtles swim or beach themselves for a rest.

I can look back at Kawaihae Harbor and the lush Kohala Mountains in the distance and see the summit of Haleakala on the Island of Maui. How lucky I am to be in this beautiful place!  When my hike is over and I head back home, the Queen’s and King’s Shops offer great restaurants, easy-to-go food, a gourmet market and all of the shopping I need!  Maybe Villa 19 can be your “ Staycation” destination! No one will find you there…..
