Filming Hawaii Five-O In O’ahu

Hawaii Five-0 Film Set Magic island

Are you a fan of the new Hawaii Five-0?  Would you like to visit the locations where the hit series is currently being filmed? Why not plan your Hawaiian vacation so you can check out the celebrities at work while visiting some of the beautiful locations that were used during last season’s production.

CBS Productions and executive producer Peter Lenkov officially started filming the second season of Hawaii Five-0 mid-July in O’ahu, Hawaii. Production started with a traditional Hawaiian blessing given by Kahu Curt Pa’alua Kekuna of Kawaiaha’o Church on a Honolulu soundstage. Hawaii Five-0 is not the first large production to be filmed on the island of O’ahu. Movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Avatar were all filmed here as well.

Last season the crew used locations all over the island. If you are a fan, you may be interested in spending some time in a few of the locations. The surfing event in Episode 22 “Ho’ohuli Na’au” was filmed at Makapu’u Beach across from Sea Life Park. Why not spend the morning touring the marine life park and the afternoon lying out on the sand. The zipline scene in Episode 18 “Loa Aloha” was set in Ka’a’awa Valley, on the Kualoa Ranch. The area is a lush, green valley surrounded by the Kualoa Mountains. Zipline tours as well as horseback riding and other outdoor activities can been booked through the Kualoa Ranch. In Episode 17 “Powa Maka Moana” there is a part where college kids are having fun at a bar. The scene was shot in the Tiki’s Bar and Grill at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel. Why not spend the early evening enjoy the ocean view while trying their fish tacos and sipping on pineapple tea.

Still, if visiting last season’s locations isn’t enough, you can always hunt around for the crew filming on O’ahu this summer. Usually white trailers and a few yellow and black signs are good indicator that Hawaii Five-0 is being made nearby. If they happen to be filming in a public location, the crew is happy to let you watch.
